FAVORITE PARTY MIX
EASY1 HOUR 10 MINS
Temperatures finally dipped into the low 40’s this week, complete with strong winds to bring in the cold front. So to celebrate? (Get ready….)
I. Went. Camping.
Yes, believe it. For the third time in my 26-years, I willingly chose to spend two nights with the bugs, spiders, snakes, little woodland creatures…and about 13 friends under the stars. Huddled, of course, in my sleeping bag with about 26.2 layers on. :) Seriously cannot remember the last time I was that cold. I think I deserve some sort of medal…
But as expected, the weekend was a blast. Love my friends, loved biking almost 30 miles to Hermann, MO (famous for its wineries) for some Oktoberfest fun, loved the laughs, stories, s’mores and doughboys shared, and of course….loved returning home to my warm bed last night. :D
Anyway, for my small contribution to our snack pile for the weekend, I whipped up a batch of my favorite party mix to bring along. This recipe, which is based off of the one originally printed on Chex Mix boxes, has long been a yummy tradition with my family. Pretty sure we made it all the time growing up, perhaps as much for the delicious smell that filled the house while it baked, as the actual party mix goodness itself. :) Now that I make it myself, I only include my favorite ingredients (listed below) complete with lots of seasoning, but feel free to sub in whatever you’d like (more ingredient ideas below in “Ali’s Tip”) and add or subtract seasoning to taste. Enjoy!!
ORITE PARTY MIX
This deliciously-seasoned party mix is always a crowd favorite!! (And it’s super-easy to make!) Detailed recipe and photos included.

- 6 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 3 Tbsp. butter (your preference – regular, Smart Balance, etc.)
- 3 1/2 tsp. seasoned salt

DIRECTIONS:
Oven Directions: Heat oven to 250°F. In large bowl, mix cereals, nuts, and nuts, and pretzels; set aside. In small microwavable bowl, melt butter and mix in Worcetershire sauce and seasoned salt. Whisk with a fork until salt is dissolved. Then gradually spoon or pour the sauce over the cereal mixture, stirring it constantly to make sure that it is fairly evenly distributed. Then spread mixture on a greased cookie sheet, and place in the oven. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool, about 15 minutes. (Optional: Mix in candy corns once the mixture has cooled.) Store in airtight container.

These are my favorite ingredients in chex mix, but definitely feel free to throw in whatever else you like and/or have on hand! Other fun ideas might include:
- dried fruits
- M&Ms, Hot Tamales, or other favorite candies
- bagel chips
- goldfish crackers
- other favorite nuts
